   Gallery: Softball - 2008 Grossmont Griffins - Playoffs (88)
For the first time in as long as anyone can remember, 2008 Grossmont Griffins softball was the stand-alone 1st place champions of the Pacific Coast Conference.  Another first was their hosting of a playoff series, on the weekend of May 3rd and 4th.  Saturday at 2:00 pm was their first playoff game against the Riverside Community College Tigers.  It was a beautiful day, cooler than the previous sweltering weekend, and a great day for softball.  Grossmont College went all out-out, setting up a snack/concessions tent, as well as bringing in real mobile bathrooms.  No porta-potties for these fans.  Spirits were high as the two teams faced-off, the G-House "Pain Train" ready to rumble out of the station.  Unfortunately, a few errors and a few well-placed Riverside hits would keep that train sidelined, at least for this game.  The Riverside Tigers, with two home runs, would take game one 8-0 over the Griffins in seven fuill innings of softball.

Unfortunately Grossmont lost to the Tigers in Game 2 at noon on Sunday with a score of 10-2.  The G-House "Pain Train" barely got warmed up.  I guess we'll have to be content with PCC Champions for the second straight year.  There's always next year...
